Transformation

Despite being a queen, her royal life is full of restrictions. She is caught up in living in the constraining norm of royalty life rather than satisfying her own needs. Her public image is content and strong; with a confident gaze, calm voice and lofty walk. However, Ion the inside she is living a conflict that is shattering her into pieces,  her life being a constant struggle. Many thoughts are overpowering her mind, body and soul. The reflection she sees in the mirror is not who she really wants to be; her personal & public image is disjointed. She feels the urgent desire for a transformation and prays for strength.

I transcribed this image dichotomy into different fabric manipulations: an applique and a laser cut.Something given, something taken…The volumes are starting to be regal & constricted, they slowly transform to more free, flowy, flamboyant and peaceful lines. Its personal conflict and struggle, opposites merged in one garment, weight of public image vs. light joyous nature. I designed this collection for a strong and independent woman, who is not afraid of dealing with life & its struggles, embracing the challenges, fighting for herself without losing her true identity.
