  • Growing up, I used to look at runways and marvel at the beautiful creations and even more beautiful models. I would see faces from all around the world and want to be like them because one thing I never saw on the runway was me… or at least someone that looked like me; a young, curvy, confident, black woman.
  • In my home, Nigeria, there are different tribes that appreciate all kinds of beauty.  In the western world, it’s a different set of rules. It’s a place so unfamiliar that one eventually might succumb to their own insecurities about their culture that they were once proud of. My collection seeks to honour and carry those same cultures along with us in the diaspora, wherever we are. The struggles we work through, the traditions we hold on to and the joy we refuse to let go of in the face of adversity.
